Beaux Arts Gallery, London, 2002. First edition. Hardback book in fine condition and unread. Black cloth boards with blind stamped design. Dust jacket: fine. Unclipped. Cover detail from The Bull, Tzim Tzum 1999-02, oil on canvas by Leaman. 96 pages, profusely illustrated (47 plates, mostly in colour) covering work by Leaman between 1985 and 2002. Jonathan Leaman was born in 1954 and studied at Camberwell School of Art, London in the mid 1970's. He has exhibited in Belgium and the UK and his work can be found in public collections including the Tate, London, and in many private collections. Richard Morphet was keeper of the Modern Collections at the Tate Gallery 1986 - 98 and has an impressive record of curating Exhibitions. The Beaux Arts exhibition catalogue (1999) is also in fine condition and is a black soft cover production with a 'thumbnail' illustration of The Throne of God to the front. Six pieces by Leaman are covered in this beautifully produced catalogue with some enlarged views of details from the paintings in 16 full colour illustrations. The six paintings are: Interior with Row (1999), Corronach (1999), The Throne of God (1999), Prayer to the Fayum (1998), Babel (1999), Tess Epinikian (1998). Accompanying text by John McEwen who was, at the time, Art Critic of The Sunday Telegraph. Together, the two publications offer a beautifully produced insight into some of the rather astonishing work of Jonathan Leaman.
