First edition, 1937. Hardback. xvi, 88pp plus 6pp of ads at rear. Dust jacket in a protective sleeve. John Austen was well knwn for his illustrations. In this instructional book he explains the technique of pen and ink rendering, and analyses the potentialities of this important branch of art. The book includes a number of examples of the author's finished work and of that of other black-and-white artists. Book in very good condition. Boards a little soiled with some slight discolouration around the edges. Internally clean and bright. Dust jacket fair. Unclipped. Generally rubbed and soiled. Some edge wear with chipping at extremities of spine and to corners. Split to fold of spine.
