Signed, limited edition. Original hinged box. Signed limited edition in original hinged box case. Hardback. 285pp plus plates. This copy is no 161 of 500 and signed by the author on the limitation page. The box case also has a paper title label to the front showing that this is no 161 of 500 copies. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. In his preface to the book, Buchan writes:- 'The book is not a biography of the King, the time for which has happily not yet come, but an attempt to provide a picture - an some slight interpretation - of his reign, with the Throne as the continuing thing through an epoch of unprecedented change. I have incorporated a few passages from my History of the Great War, published in 1922.' The later sections of the book contain many photographic illustrations. Book condition: fine and with an unread feel. The ivory coloured buckram and gilt titles are very clean and bright, having been protected by the box case. Very occasional and extremely slight spotting - mainly to preliminary pages. The box case is in overall good condition. Some rubbing and a little soiling to the external surfaces.
