Volume One 1904 - 1939 First edition, 1989. Hardback. xxi, 783pp. Dust jacket. Unquestionably one of the great novelists of his time. Graham Greene has always guarded his privacy, remaining aloof, mysterious and unpredictable. None the less, he took the step of allowing Norman Sherry complete access to his letters and diaries, and gave his consent to this full and frank biography in two parts - this, the first taking Greene's life up to the beginning of the Second World War. Illustrated with black & white photographs. Book in near fine condition. Very slight soiling to text block edges. Previous owner's printed bookplate to front pastedown with a pencil note to ffep relating to date of purchase. Dust jacket very good and unclipped. Very minor edge wear only. A heavy book but no additional shipping costs to UK post codes.
