Eight colour plates with tissue guards plus over 140 wood engravings. Decorated initials to each chapter. An entertaining read indeed. "In order to give a fair picture of our country, we have sought for the picturesque in each of its forty counties; devoting generally three articles to each; but of course increasing the number of descriptions in those counties that have the greatest claim on our attention from their scenery or associations." Book in good condition. Boards a little subbed and soiled. Some minor nicks to extremities of spine. Very small puncture mark to upper board at hinge. Previous owner's name to front free endpaper. Crack to gutter at front and front hinge weakening. Light sporadic spotting throughout but mostly confined to the margins of the colour plates and the associated tissue guards.
