First edition. Faber & Faber, London, 1971, first edition. Hardback. 151 pages plus 3 maps. Dust jacket. This guide deals with the appearance and history of buildings in the landscape: with the man-made sights as well as the natural ones. But in North Wales nature is far more important, and far less changed, than usual. Snowden and its satellite mountains are hugely attractive. Climbers, walkers, scramblers, naturalists, photographers and motorists continually increase in numbers but the vast scenery seems able to accommodate them. In this book the gentle green pastures, remote farms and churches, the many small bays of Anglesey are minutely explored; so are the resorts of Pwllhelli, LLandudno, Rhyl, Colwyn Bay; the castles of Caernarvon and Conway, and the verdant Vale of Clwyd. Illustrated with many black & white photographs and colour frontispiece. Book in very good condition. Dust jacket very good. Price clipped. Generally very lightly soiled. Spine slightly faded.
