George G Harrap & Co, London, 1958. First UK edition. Translated by Frances Hogarth-Gaute. Book condition: very good with only very minor shelf wear. Dust jacket condition: very good. Unclipped. Small closed tear to upper edge of front (approx 1cm). Light shelf wear and occasinal chipping around the edges. Spine slightly faded. The author vividly relates the experiences of himself and his family when they were engulfed in the Russian Revolution. Jascha, whose foster-father was manager of the Russo-Asiatic Bank in Samarkand, was only twelve years old at the time, but his remembrances are vivid. Every grim experience of those terrible days is stamped indelibly on his mind. This is and excitingly different kind of 'escape story', full of suspense, horror and humour.
