Three volumes. Vol I: 1930 - 1939; Vol II: 1939 - 1945; Vol III: 1945 - 1962. All three companion volumes. Hardback first editions printed in 1966, 1967 and 1968 respectively. 8vo. Vol I: 448pp; Vol II: 511pp; Vol II: 448pp. All in matching yellow cloth boards with black panel to spine and gilt lettering. Top edges tinted grey. All volumes have dust jackets in same basic design but with different colours for each. Sir Harold Nicolson (1886 - 1968) was a British diplomat, author, diarist and politician. He married the writer Vita Sackville-West in 1913 and they practised what might be described as an 'open marriage', both having affairs with a number of partners and sometimes of the same sex. Nicolson had a successful diplomatic career and went on to become an MP. He was a prolific writer with a massive range. His life could be summed up (quite inadequately) as fascinating. All three volumes contain black & white photographs. The three volumes are in good condiiton and quite uniform in their wear. They have clearly been well read and each has an ownership signature (by the same person) on the ffep. Yellow boards are generally a little rubbed and lightly soiled. All volumes still securely bound and internally clean and free of spotting though there is some very sporadic and extremely light spotting to text block edges. Dust jackets in good condition. All price clipped and generally rubbed and soiled with some discolouration to spines. Some small closed tears to folds, occasional nicks to the edges and general edge wear. Jackets all in protective sleeves. The three volumes make for a heavy package but no additional shipping costs to UK destinations. Overseas buyers please ask for a shipping quote.
