Visions of the Sleeping Bard. Limited edition of 175 copies. Translated by T. Gwynn Jones First edition. Copy number 104 of 175. Hardback. 4to. xi, 213pp. Original patterned red cloth covered boards powdered in gold, quarter bound in red morocco with gilt to spine. Hand set in Bembo type and printed on Barcham Green hand-made paper. No jacket )as issued). Frontispiece from a wood engraving by Blair Hughes-Stanton. Ellis Wynne (1671 - 1734) was a Merionethshire cleric. These Visions were first published in 1703 and have long been cherished by readers of Welsh literature as a classic. This translation was undertaken at the request of the Gregynog Press and is presented as a parallel text in Welsh (verso) and English (recto). As the Welsh text occupies less space than the English translation, it is set in a slightly larger typeface. Book in very good condition. Small chip to head of spine and front hinge and again to foot of spine on the lower board. Spine a little colour faded. Some marking to boards (mainly lower board). Text block upper edge a little dust soiled. Very minor and faint spotting to endpapers but internally clean and bright. Gregynog Press Bindery printed to foot of rear pastedown.
