Letters written to various notables between 1715 and 1718 by Lady Mary Wortley Montagu (1689 - 1762). On her return to England she became an advocate for the use of smallpox innoculations. Binding poor but text block in fair condition. Front board detached. Boards and spine generally worn and rubbed. Lacking all before title page and fly leaves etc lost at end - page 280 is the final page and ends with FINIS, so text complete. Lower half of title page lost and horizontal tear across page 35.
