The book is divided into four sections: The Woodcut in England, The Woodcut in France, Artistic Lithography in England, Artistic Lithography in France with a commentary on each area by Malcolm C. Salaman. Twelve colour illustrations plus numerous monotone illustrations. A thorough review of woodcuts and lithographs in Britain and France. Book in good condition. This is an ex reference library book. Boards just a little rubbed and soiled. Extremities of spine lightly rubbed and small area of colour fade to top of lower board and head of spine.. Library classification number in gilt to spine. Printed book plate of Newport Reference Library to front paste down plus bar code sticker to front free end paper. Small numerical code label to rear free end paper. Small area of staining around hinge at top of front end papers. Light pencil note to verso of title page together with a very small library stamp. This same small library stamp appears on the reverse of the plates which were probably deemed 'removable'. Some spotting and light toning but this is largely but not exclusively restricted to the first few pages. Occasional small corner crease to a few pages. A few light soil marks throughout but overall quite clean.
